The bright red Keikyu Line passes overhead! Experience art along with the vibrations and noise of the train
gallery made in Koganecho

Gallery Made in Koganecho, which newly opened in the Koganecho area in January 2017, is a 3-minute walk from Hinodecho Station on the Keikyu Line. It is operated by the Koganecho Area Management Center, an NPO that engages in "town development through art," and permanently exhibits works by artists who have been involved in activities in Koganecho so far to make them known to more people. What's most noteworthy is its location! It's built under the elevated track where the Keikyu Line runs overhead!!

The architectural design, which is made of glass and looks like a rectangular skeleton box, is stylish, but let's take a closer look. The bright red Keikyu Line is running. A train clatters past and the gallery is shrouded in silence. It's very unique that two different entities coexist in this place.

Now, let's go inside the gallery!

The interior is spacious, with white walls separated by iron pillars, and various works such as photographs, paintings, and sculptures are displayed (admission is free for permanent exhibitions). It's a very private and comfortable space where you'll want to look at the works from a little distance, or get closer and take a closer look at the details, and compare them all to find the works that move you.

All of the exhibited works are for sale, so if you find something you like, you can purchase it on the spot. If you want to know more about this artist, you can easily ask the gallery staff about their activities and other works.

Actually this "gallery made in Koganecho". When you go up the stairs outside, you will find an interesting space that takes advantage of the unique environment under the elevated railway. Just below the railroad tracks. Boardwalks have been installed in areas where you can feel the vibrations whenever a train passes by, creating a space large enough for people to walk. Although this place is usually closed, it is sometimes opened to the public for special exhibitions and exhibits. It will be fun to experience art while letting your adventurous spirit shine through in this limited space that is invisible to people walking outside.

When you step outside, there is public art displayed in the form of a shop window using glass doors so that people walking on the street can naturally interact with the art. This is a view unique to Koganecho, where art and the city come together. The door is locked, so you can't go inside, but getting a peek at the art is sure to thrill viewers. Don't miss it when strolling around the area under the elevated railway tracks between Hinodecho and Koganecho!
