（Minami-ku, Yokohama）［Hie Shrine Festival (Osannomiya Fall Festival) ］

Also known as Osannomiya and Osansama, Hie Shrine holds this festival each year. It has been selected as among Kanagawa’s top 50 festivals. One of Yokohama’s largest portable shrine events of its kind makes an annual tour of the precinct. Held on odd-numbered years, the event sees 40 shrines large and small carrying ritual objects paraded through Isezaki-cho and other parts of town, making for quite the spectacle. On the shrine grounds, parishioners volunteer to host a dedication performance and play traditional instruments and drums. There is also an exhibit of drawings by local children, and votive lanterns and a shrine fair enliven the mood.
