【Kimono】Traditional Native Dress of Japan

Western clothing is constructed of pieces of fabric cut and sewn along curved lines to fit the three-dimensional shape of the body. By contrast, Japanese kimono have a distinctive flat construction, sewn together from pieces of fabric that are cut along straight lines. Kimono come in an array of materials and patterns according to the purposes for which they are worn, and some are admired as works of art for the vivid colors and patterns created by dyeing or weaving.
Meanwhile, there are more and more establishments where one can rent a kimono for enjoyment at a travel destination or event.
