Yamate 234th Building

Yamate 234th Building

Yamate 234th building was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake around 1927.
It was built as a reconstruction project to get foreigners who left Yokohama to come back.
In a shared house (apartment house) for foreigners,
It is one of the few remaining structures in Yokohama city.
Traditionally, four identical dwelling units were placed across the central entrance porch,
They faced each other symmetrically and overlapped vertically.
Currently, the first floor is a general guide to Yamate centering on the reproduced living room,
The second floor can be used as a rental space for exhibitions and meetings.
