GALERIE PARIS

In this third installment, we will be introducing galleries that are holding various special exhibitions on Nihon Odori Street in Yokohama. "GALERIE PARIS" moved and opened in 2000 in this renovated historical building in Yokohama. In contrast to the solid feel of the building, the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a bright and spacious space.

This is the exterior of the building where "GALERIE PARIS" is located. A gallery in a well-built old building...it's like looking out at a European cityscape.

Immediately after climbing the stairs at the building entrance. The entrance to "GALERIE PARIS" is on the right.

Let's go in!

During the interview, an exhibition view of painter Noriko Nagano's solo exhibition "Water Tones" was being held at "GALERIE PARIS". As the title suggests, it was a wonderful exhibition where you could hear a different ``tone of water'' when standing in front of each work. Nagano-san, thank you very much for your cooperation in the shooting!

The space is not too large, making it easy to see the works and get familiar with them. Some of the old equipment remains, making you wonder, "Is this a safe?!"

While sticking to the pure white and rectangular "white cube" that is most popular in contemporary art exhibition spaces, it also features large windows that let in natural light and high ceilings that prioritize "volume over square meter."

The row of ginkgo trees that can be seen through the window is also part of the space. At the time of the interview, it was still hot, so the leaves on the ginkgo trees were green, but you can enjoy the autumn leaves, and the fluttering leaves add a sense of the season to the simple gallery. Immerse yourself in the world of the work and sometimes enjoy chatting with the artist. This is a comfortable gallery that invites visitors to an extraordinary experience.

Next to the gallery is a boutique, which has a completely different atmosphere from the white cube-style gallery. Here, works by artists from Japan and all over the world who are connected to GALERIE PARIS are exhibited and sold.

``The building has a long history, so even if you place something old like an antique doll, it will fit in perfectly with the space,'' says owner Morita. Accessories, clothes, paintings, objects, and even antique dolls are displayed to please the eyes of visitors. When you visit the gallery, be sure to check out this boutique next door!
