New acquisition: Gerhard Richter《Strip (926-3)》

The Pola Museum of Art opened in 2002 in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, with the concept of ``symbiosis of art and nature in Hakone.'' The Pola Museum of Art's collection was collected over 40 years by Tsuneji Suzuki, the second generation of Pola's founder, and includes Western paintings, Japanese Western paintings, Japanese paintings, prints, Oriental ceramics, glass crafts, and cosmetic tools from all over the world. There are over 10,000 items. The building takes into consideration the nature and landscape of Hakone, and is designed to be 8 meters above ground, with most of the building underground, and designed to blend in with the forest. In addition, we grandly opened the promenade in July 2013 so that you can enjoy the rich nature of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park even more. You can enjoy nature walks along with the art works in the forest where beech and Japanese beech trees grow.



The collection of Western paintings, centered on Impressionists such as Monet and Renoir, is one of the largest in Japan. Although it is located in the tourist destination of Hakone, you can enjoy authentic works of art in a relaxed manner. As part of our commitment, the lighting in the exhibition room is set to the ``twilight of Paris in July'' so that Impressionist works can be viewed beautifully. In addition, original goods and restaurant course menus have been updated to match the theme of each special exhibition, so you can enjoy it without getting bored even if you visit each exhibition or season. Spend some time in this light-filled architectural space, admiring our extensive collection and the works of today's leading artists.
