Kamakura City Kawakita Film Memorial Museum
The Kamakura City Kawakita Film Memorial Hall was opened in April 2010 on the site of the former home of Nagamasa and Kashiko Kawakita, who greatly contributed to the development of film, with the aim of developing film culture in Kamakura City. The museum exhibits film materials, shows movies, and allows you to view film-related materials and search the web. We also hold lectures, lectures, and workshops throughout the year.
The building is a one-story Japanese-style building that expresses the image of Sukiya-zukuri style and harmonizes with the surrounding environment. The wooden walls have been restored to their original appearance, and the exhibition room's bright and wide openings offer a view of the lush gardens, creating a calm atmosphere of the ancient capital of Kamakura. Although it is close to Komachi Street, which is bustling every day, it is located in a quiet environment that makes you wonder if you are just one street away, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing time typical of the ancient city of Kamakura. Also, although the lights of movie theaters have now been extinguished in Kamakura City, theaters equipped with film projectors regularly screen masterpieces from all over the world, allowing you to enjoy movies on a large screen. .
