Okada Museum of ArtThe Okada Museum of Art opened in Kowakudani, Hakone in October 2013. With five floors and an exhibition area of 5,000 m2, the museum boasts the largest indoor exhibition area in Hakone, and displays approximately 450 pieces of art, including Japanese and Oriental ceramics and paintings. The museum was conceived with the desire to carefully protect the art that has been passed down in Japan, share the joy of encountering beauty, and pass it on to future generations. The front of the museum is decorated with a large mural of the wind god and thunder god, "Kaze Toki" (Wind, Time) (2013), 12 meters high and 30 meters wide, painted by contemporary Japanese painter Fukui Kotaro. After viewing the mural, you can enjoy a foot bath at the cafe, which has 100% natural hot spring water, or a stroll through the garden. |
