KAAT Stage Technology Workshop 2026: Learning the Power to Make Things Happen ~Special Effects Edition~
When creating a work, designers of art, lighting, sound, video, costumes, and other elements make various suggestions and develop plans in line with the director's intentions, aiming for the best possible performance. Then, various technicians use their specialized skills to bring those plans to life. What kinds of technologies are used, and what kinds of work is done in this process?

KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre would like to hold a course focusing on technicians who bring various designs and plans to life, as a place to learn about this "power to make things happen." This course is aimed at those studying performing arts, those involved in performing arts, and theater managers and producers who want to learn about the creative process.

This time, we are pleased to welcome Tomohiro Sakai, who has worked as a special effects staff member at KAAT and many other theaters and film productions, as our instructor for this special effects workshop. He will teach us how to create immersive visual and sound effects that cannot be fully expressed through stage design, lighting, and sound alone, by integrating them with the entire space, hair and makeup, and costumes, in order to embody the director's intentions.
