Tokaido Kawasaki-juku Exchange Center

This "Tokaido Kawasaki-juku Exchange Center" was developed based on the long-standing activities of local residents, with the aim of learning about the history and culture of Tokaido Kawasaki-juku, passing it on to future generations, and serving as a hub for community activities and exchange.

Kawasaki-juku was a post town that flourished as one of the 53 stations of the Tokaido during the Edo period, and is an important historical resource that forms the origin of the present-day city of Kawasaki. However, due to war damage, many documents were destroyed, and most of the appearance of the post town from the Edo period has been lost.

However, thanks to the tremendous cooperation of local residents and other stakeholders, we have now unearthed the memories and records remaining in Kawasaki-juku and, employing various methods, established the "Tokaido Kawasaki-juku Exchange Center" as a facility to share the history of Kawasaki-juku with everyone in an enjoyable way.
