A small exhibition "New Artist Picks (NAP)" that introduces young artists who are expected to be active in the future. This time, we will hold a solo exhibition of the artist, Mariko Fence (Sakura Mariko / Born in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1987, lives in Yokohama City, and completed the Master's Program in Art, Craft Area [Woodworking], Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba). .. Fence Taki has consistently used "sewing" as a means of expression, and has mainly produced natural objects such as wood chips, leaves, and petals. It can be said to be the act of tracing the memory when it was engraved on the material through the manual work of each needle and keeping that memory in a visible form. In this exhibition, we will follow the development of the works so far and present new works under the theme of the artist's life story set in Sajima (Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture) where he was born and raised. From those works, which seem to be private expressions at first glance, we can find a warm look toward all living things and the artist's transparent attitude toward the act of sewing.
