Rikako Otani "wave"
Rikako Otani will present an installation work that covers all the walls of the Yokosuka Art Center with "waves" and "lyrics."
The waves are unique in that no two forms are alike, and their repeated movements give the viewer a sense of transience and rarity. The lyrics written by Otani himself are overlaid on the waves.
The "waves" and "lyrics" seem to resonate in harmony, but at times they are contradictory, never fixed on one meaning or outcome, and so are filled with uncertainty. However, it is this uncertainty that gives space to the viewer's mind, evoking various sensations from there. These sensations also highlight the reality that we may be buried under the influx of information and objects in our daily lives, and lose sight of what is truly important to us. This installation work will provide an opportunity to re-evaluate what is truly important to you.
