Mr.daydreamer #10 "Hamlet Machine"
"Hamletmachine" is a masterpiece by former East German playwright Heiner Müller. It's just eight pages of text, compiled by deconstructing and reconstructing a vast array of plays, poems, and novels, including Shakespeare's "Hamlet." What we find here isn't a narrative, but rather words scattered like rubble and fragmented images that project the turbulent world in which Müller lived.
Although this text has been described as "impossible to perform" due to its incomprehensibility, attempts have been made to perform it all over the world, and Mr.daydreamer, a Fukuoka-based playwright who creates contemporary tragedies, will now take on this text.
With visual direction using real-time calculations that respond to the presence of the actors, a "plaza-style" space that removes the boundary between stage and audience, and stage art by painter Urakawa Taishi, we present "Hamlet Machine," which transcends time, space, and territory and draws the audience in.
