ST Spot

ST Spot Yokohama (formerly the ST Spot Management Committee) was organized by volunteer citizens as the management organization for ST Spot, a small space opened by the city of Yokohama in November 1987.

In April 2000, ST Spot Yokohama organized a board of directors and obtained legal status in June 2004, establishing the "ST Spot Yokohama NPO" (hereinafter referred to as "NPO ST Spot Yokohama"). The opening of ST Spot sparked a rapid upsurge in local theatrical activities. Since then, it has served as a hub for young artists in dance, music, film, and visual arts. Our organization promotes these creative activities through business development, information services, and networking, broadening the base of performing arts both locally and nationally, and fostering many young talents. In April 2004, we established an arts education program. Working in collaboration with the government, we are developing projects focused on arts education, including sending artists to schools to teach, training professionals, and developing programs, with the aim of promoting healthy child development and the spread of art.

Although it is the smallest in the city, ST Spot has great potential and is positioned as a new operating model for publicly-run, privately-run theaters, continuing to operate as a non-profit organization responsible for promoting the arts in a broad sense.
