Copperplate engraver Tetsuro Komai: Like a constellation unfolding in the palm of your hand
Special Exhibition: "Tetsuro Komai, Copperplate Engraver: Like a Constellation Spreading in the Palm of Your Hand"
Tetsuro Komai (1920–1976), a copperplate engraver who left an important mark on the history of Japanese printmaking, will be featured in this exhibition, primarily from the Yoshiharu Fukuhara Collection at the Setagaya Art Museum. The exhibition will include early oil paintings that have rarely been shown before, as well as original illustrations for the children's book "The Child Who Chases Dreams," which will be exhibited for the first time. Through works by domestic and international artists, including Odilon Redon, who Komai admired and was influenced by, as well as copperplate plates, production tools, and photographs, the exhibition will explore his diverse creative activities and his personality.

Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Hayama
The Hayama Museum, the third building of the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, was completed in March 2003 and opened in October of the same year. It boasts a diverse range of facilities, including exhibition rooms with varying ceiling heights and lighting environments, an art library aiming to be a hub for collecting materials and disseminating information, an auditorium with audiovisual equipment, and a storage facility showcasing the pinnacle of preservation techniques. To encourage people to enjoy the museum in their daily lives, the entrance hall, courtyard, restaurant, museum shop, garden, and even the art library on the basement floor are all accessible free of charge. |
