Special Exhibition: "Yoko Matsumoto: The Day I Saw the Evening Star"
Yoko Matsumoto (born 1936) pursued abstract painting from the late 1950s, and in the 1960s, her encounter with Abstract Expressionism and acrylic paints in the United States led her to develop a unique two-dimensional expression full of light and color. Since the late 1990s, she has returned to oil painting and continues to create energetically to this day. Matsumoto's creative trajectory of more than 70 years has been greatly re-evaluated internationally in recent years, and this exhibition will showcase her representative works from her earliest pieces to the present, as well as new works created specifically for this exhibition.

Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Hayama
The Hayama Museum, the third building of the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, was completed in March 2003 and opened in October of the same year. It boasts a diverse range of facilities, including exhibition rooms with varying ceiling heights and lighting environments, an art library aiming to be a hub for collecting materials and disseminating information, an auditorium with audiovisual equipment, and a storage facility showcasing the pinnacle of preservation techniques. To encourage people to enjoy the museum in their daily lives, the entrance hall, courtyard, restaurant, museum shop, garden, and even the art library on the basement floor are all accessible free of charge. |
