Kawasaki City Art Center opened in October 2007 as a symbol of Kawasaki City's ``Shinyuri Art City''. There is the ``Arterio Small Theater,'' where the stage and audience seats are close together for easy viewing, and the ``Arterio Movie Theater,'' where you can watch movies in comfortable chairs. Centered around these two compact yet authentic theaters, it is a facility where you can enjoy plays, movies, music, and more in close proximity.
"Artelio Small Theater" has started hosting performances under the name "Shinyuri Theater." The public theater aims to become a regional theater that gathers professional theater and musical actors and production staff and serves as a base for the creation and dissemination of the Shin-Yurigaoka area. Kawasaki City Art Center is unique in its efforts to bring people closer to the performing arts by not just seeing them, but also participating, such as by launching ``Gekidan Wagamachi,'' a community-based theater company.
As a local mini-theater, the Arterio Movie Theater screens unique films from around the world that are not shown at cinema complexes. We also provide detailed services such as barrier-free screenings for the visually and hearing impaired and screenings with childcare facilities. We also hold film and animation production workshops for elementary school students and video production courses for adults every year.
In addition to these two theaters, there is also a ``recording room'' suitable for recording narration and music, and a ``video editing room'' equipped with an editing system using Final Cut Pro, which are available for rent.
