Nihon Shinbun Museum

Nihon Shinbun Museum

NewsPark (Japan Newspaper Museum) reopened on July 20, 2016, as a facility where visitors can learn about the information society and the role of newspapers and journalism through hands-on experiences. In April 2019, a new permanent exhibition room with an expanded historical exhibition zone was opened. There are many fun and educational features, such as touch-panel displays that introduce the on- and off-duty lives of newspaper reporters. In the reporting experience game "Yokohama Time Travel," visitors can travel back in time by holding a tablet over a diorama recreating the cityscape of Yokohama. They can investigate and unravel the mysteries of Yokohama, such as the arrival of Commodore Perry and the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Amity between Japan and the United States, and the secrets behind the creation of Nihon-Odori and Yamashita Park. In addition to holding special exhibitions and various events, visitors can have a commemorative newspaper created and given to them upon request.
