On July 20, 2016, News Park (The Japan Newspaper Museum) was reborn as a facility where visitors can learn about the role of newspapers and journalism in the information society through hands-on experience. In April 2019, a new permanent exhibition room was opened, expanding the historical exhibition zone. There are many fun educational features, such as touch-panel displays showcasing the work and personal lives of newspaper reporters. The "Yokohama Time Travel" reporting experience game allows visitors to travel back in time by holding a tablet over a diorama that recreates the Yokohama cityscape. Visitors can investigate and unravel Yokohama's mysteries, such as the arrival of Commodore Perry and the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Amity between the United States and Japan, as well as the secrets behind the creation of Japan Boulevard and Yamashita Park. In addition to special exhibitions and various events, visitors can also request a commemorative newspaper.
