Yoh Shomei Art Museum

Yoh Shomei Art Museum

You can view Yo Shomei's watercolors, oil paintings, drawings, handwritten words, and picture books covering a variety of themes.
Vast green meadows, a clear blue sky, and solitary houses, trees, people, and animals... Takashi Yanase described his style as "painting the air," and it has garnered support from many. Even today, his paintings continue to bring a sense of breeze to the hearts of viewers, filling them with gentle feelings.
Our museum permanently displays approximately 80 original illustrations from these works. The permanent exhibition room on the first floor changes six times a year, while the rooms on the second floor showcase seasonal works. The garden features six large American maple trees and is filled with white hydrangeas and white roses that bloom in each season, inviting visitors into the world of picture books. We hope that you can find solace and peace of mind through these beautiful illustrations and words.
