This art museum specializes in contemporary Japanese paintings and stands on a hill overlooking Lake Ashi. In addition to a comprehensive collection of works by Yamamoto Kyujin, Hirayama Ikuo, and Hori Fumiko, the museum also houses and exhibits many other outstanding works by talented contemporary Japanese artists (exhibitions are changed three times a year). Traditional crafts such as kaleidoscopes, Noh masks, and lacquerware are also on display.
From the 50-meter-long panoramic observation lounge, you can enjoy a picturesque view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, woven together through the seasons. We hope to provide visitors with a moment of peace and tranquility as they gaze upon masterpieces of modern Japanese painting and one of the best views in Hakone.
Access: From Hakone Tozan Railway's Hakone-Yumoto Station or JR Odawara Station, take the bus bound for Hakone-machi Port and get off at the Motohakone Port stop
