The Kamakura Annex, which opened in 1984, is located about 350 meters on foot from the former Kamakura Hall (closed in March 2016) in the direction of Kita-Kamakura. It was designed by Masato Otaka (1923-2010) and is thoughtfully designed to blend in with the residential area nestled between mountains. After more than 30 years in operation and a two-year closure for facility renovations and improving user services, the museum reopened on October 12, 2019. The exhibition room walls have been renovated, and a café space has been added to the terrace facing the sculpture garden, improving accessibility.
