Opened in 1976. Our activities are based on the theme of "Nature and Culture of the Sagami River Basin." We are not limited to the administrative area of Hiratsuka City, but take a broader view of the region, including surrounding areas, and respond to a wide range of learning needs. It is a comprehensive regional museum with fields of history, folklore, archaeology, astronomy, biology, geology, and art.
Based on the philosophy of citizen collaboration, various working groups have been formed and independent learning activities are also carried out.
