If you use Yokohama Station, you might have seen it somewhere.
"The Sun and Child," a ceramic relief depicting a mother and child against a vibrant sun, was created and supervised by Mitsuhito Toneyama, also known as the "painter of the sun," and completed in 1982. This large-scale work, 15 meters wide, was a long-time symbol of the station, themed around "Yokohama Open to the Future." Although it was removed during renovations in 2017, a portion of it was relocated and re-exhibited in 2020 in the Sotetsu Line connecting passage on the first basement floor. Be sure to look up and admire it when you transfer trains.
