Yokohama Civic Gallery was opened in 1964 and was said to be "Yokohama's first art museum" at the time. Opened in 1964 at the request of local art lovers, this facility has continued to widely introduce art to the citizens of Yokohama for nearly half a century. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its opening, the facility was relocated and reopened in the fall of 2014.
