The Yokohama Civic Gallery, established in 1964, was once considered "Yokohama's first art museum." Opened in response to the fervent desires of local art lovers, this facility has continued to introduce art to the citizens of Yokohama for nearly half a century. To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the facility relocated and reopened in the autumn of 2014 after renovations.
