Opened in March 2003, this museum houses approximately 2,500 archaeological, historical, artistic and ethnographic materials, as well as 25,000 documentary materials, donated to Yokohama by orientalist scholar Namio Egami. Cultures from various parts of Eurasia are exhibited in sections entitled "Desert and Grasslands," "Colors and Forms," "Techniques," "Dressing," "Communication," and "Exchange."
