The Tin Toy Museum permanently displays approximately 3,000 toys, mainly manufactured in Japan from the 1890s to the 1960s. These are part of the collection that Director Kitahara has been amassing since around 1973. The museum opened in April 1986 with the hope that many people would come and see them. The tin toys are displayed in a museum converted from an old Western-style building.
