Bringing smiles to everyone through entertainment - Mama Rhythm Papa Rhythm

エンターテインメントを通して、みんなに笑顔を―ままリズムぱぱリズム―

"Mama Rhythm Papa Rhythm" was started by a group of moms who met: a kindergarten teacher, a former member of the Shiki Theatre Company, and a theme park dancer. The starting point of their activities was their desire to create an environment where moms could feel safe going outside and to provide a place where moms could make friends. We spoke to them today.

Takiguchi and Mori, who studied expressive education in the same department at the same university, reunited after becoming mothers and started "Mama Rhythm Papa Rhythm" with the aim of cheering up moms and dads through entertainment.

"When children start to walk, there aren't many places they can take them to play, so I started this event with the hope of creating a place where anyone and the whole family can participate. I hope that through entertainment at events, everyone will smile and the circle of happiness will spread," says Takiguchi.

What started as an activity for mothers in Aoba Ward has now expanded to three locations in the same ward. The content has expanded beyond just mothers to include multi-generational exchange. The members, originally consisting of just two people, Takiguchi and Mori, have been joined by former theme park dancer Takada and former Shiki Theatre Company member Murakami, bringing the total number of main instructors to four.

In addition, the group is now expanding its activities outside of the prefecture. In May 2022, one of the founders, Ms. Mori, established a branch in Chiba and began holding classes for postpartum mothers.

Now, many members are participating in the activities.

"The number of members has increased through connections between people, with women who used to work in the same workplace now becoming mothers and joining our activities, and local child-rearing support groups that we participated in when our children were young now joining our staff."

Currently, people with a wide range of titles, such as video production creators, web designers, local coordinators, and welfare officers, are participating in our activities. You can view the profiles of our talented staff on our website. The programs we offer are diverse, as they make use of the expertise of these members. All of them will bring a smile to the faces of mothers and fathers raising children.

The multi-generational classes held at Fujigaoka are enjoyed by people of all ages.

"Mama Rhythm Papa Rhythm" started its activities in 2017. When asked about a particularly memorable event, everyone answered "The Yoga & Dance Festival held in March 2023." This event was a large in-person event held for the first time in three years, bringing together dance instructors active in Mama Rhythm Yokohama and Chiba. It was a multi-generational musical that was attended by 120 people, including staff.

"In addition to the increase in nuclear families, opportunities to interact with others have decreased due to the effects of COVID-19, so we place great importance on interaction regardless of age. Mothers who actually participated said they learned that multi-generational interaction is possible in this way, and seniors said they were encouraged by the event. It was also good to be able to see the expressions on the participants' faces because it was face-to-face."

The fun expressions on everyone's faces in the photos and videos were also impressive. The sign language dance in which everyone participated was a must-see! You can see what happened on the day on YouTube.

Many children participated in the Yoga & Dance Festival in March 2023.

If you'd like to participate, we will be holding a workshop in September for children from 0 years old to elementary school age.

If you are interested in "Mama Rhythm Papa Rhythm," we currently hold regular classes in three locations in Kanagawa Prefecture: Fujigaoka, Azamino, and Tama Plaza. Basically, anyone can participate, and we also have Saturday dance classes that are easy for working people to attend.

When I asked her what she keeps in mind in her classes, she replied, "We value building connections. We want to provide a place where moms can make friends." She said she always includes content that allows moms to interact and spark communication. It's reassuring to know that there is a place where moms raising children can interact with each other.

Baby classes held on weekdays

"We also hold seasonal events such as Halloween in October and Christmas in December every year. We post them on Instagram, so we hope you will take a look. We are also accepting bookings for traveling classes, touring performances and trial sessions. If you are interested, please contact us," says Takiguchi with a smile.

Popular events may fill up quickly. Not only moms and dads raising children, but also those who have finished raising children, why not participate in the "Mama Rhythm Papar Rhythm" events as an opportunity to interact with local people?
