Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025: Call for performing groups
Kanagawa Prefecture is promoting the Magnet Culture (Magcul) initiative, which aims to attract people with the appeal of culture and the arts and create excitement in the local area.
As part of this initiative, we will be holding the Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025.
In advance of the event, applications for participating groups began on Thursday, September 19th.

What is the Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025?
This award is open to groups from all over the country, regardless of genre, who will perform a wide range of physical performing arts works. Approximately seven groups will be selected through the first selection process (document screening), and the selected groups will perform at KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre, where the Grand Prix and MVP awards will be decided. In addition, a competition for high school students in Kanagawa Prefecture will be held at Kanagawa Prefectural Kanagawa Comprehensive High School (22nd Century Flying Category Selection Tournament), and two selected groups will be granted the right to perform in the final.

Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025 Final
Performance dates : March 15th (Saturday) - 16th (Sunday), 2025
Venue : KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre Large Studio [281 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama]
Judging Committee : Yoshie Inaba, Yasuhiro Kasamatsu, Kazuyuki Kajiya, Akiko Kitamura, Kaori Nishio,
Kozue Hibino, Mikuni Yanaihara (in alphabetical order)
Performing groups : Approximately seven groups selected through the first selection process (document screening)
Two groups selected through the 22nd Century Flying Frame Selection Tournament
(This is an open entry and will not be judged in the final)
Duration : 30 minutes or less
Prizes : Grand Prize: 1 million yen, performance rights at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center Studio HIKARI (1 group)
MVP: 200,000 yen (one individual from among actors, dancers, directors, choreographers, and staff from any field)
Audience Award: Performance rights for HIKARI at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center Studio (1 group)
Eligible organizations : Organizations with the organizational capacity to responsibly perform works.

Performing group application period : Thursday, September 19th to Thursday, October 31st, 2024

Performance date : Sunday, January 19, 2025
Venue : Kanagawa Prefectural Comprehensive High School Multipurpose Hall [19-2 Hirakawa-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama]
Judges : Kazuyuki Kajiya, Yo Nakamura, Yuri Yamada (in alphabetical order)
Performing groups : In principle, all groups that have applied (however, if there are 10 or more groups that have applied,

Performance time : 15 minutes or more, 30 minutes or less
Performing group application period : Thursday, September 19th to Friday, December 6th, 2024
Prizes : The top two groups will receive the Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025 Final
The right to perform the work will be granted, and the judges will provide guidance before the performance.
Eligible organizations : Organizations consisting only of students enrolled in high schools, etc. within the prefecture
