Call for Participating Groups for the "Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025"
Kanagawa Prefecture is promoting the Magnet Culture (MagCul) initiative, which aims to attract people through the appeal of culture and art and create vibrancy in the region.
As part of this initiative, we will be holding the "Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025".
Prior to the event, we began accepting applications from participating groups on Thursday, September 19th.
What is the "Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025"?
This award seeks applications from groups across Japan to perform a wide range of physical stage arts works, regardless of genre. Approximately seven groups will be selected through a preliminary selection process (document review). These selected groups will perform at KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre, where the Grand Prix and MVP awards will be determined. (Finals)
In addition, a competition for high school students in Kanagawa Prefecture will be held at Kanagawa Prefectural Kanagawa Sogo High School (22nd Century Soaring Selection Competition), and the two selected groups will be granted the right to perform in the finals.

Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025 Final
Performance dates : March 15th (Saturday) - 16th (Sunday), 2025
Venue : KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre, Main Studio [281 Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama]
Judges : Yoshie Inaba, Taiyo Kasamatsu, Kazuyuki Kajiya, Akiko Kitamura, Kaori Nishio,
Kozue Hibino, Mikuni Yanaihara (in alphabetical order)
Performing groups : Approximately 7 groups selected through the initial selection process (document review).
Two organizations selected through the 22nd Century Soaring Frame Selection Tournament
(This is an open entry and will not be considered for judging in the final round.)
Performance time : within 30 minutes
Prizes : Grand Prize: 1 million yen, performance rights at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center Studio HIKARI (1 group)
MVP: 200,000 yen (one individual, such as an actor, dancer, director, choreographer, or staff member in any field)
Audience Award: Performance rights at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center Studio HIKARI (1 group)
Target organizations : Organizations that have the capacity to stage works responsibly.

Performance date : Sunday, January 19, 2025
Venue : Kanagawa Prefectural Kanagawa General High School Multipurpose Hall [19-2 Hirakawa-cho, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama City]
Judges : Kazuyuki Kajiya, Yo Nakamura, Yuri Yamada (in alphabetical order)
Performing groups : In principle, all groups that applied (however, if there are 10 or more applicant groups,
We plan to conduct a first selection round (document screening).
Performance time : 15 minutes to 30 minutes
Application period for performing groups : September 19th (Thursday), 2024 to December 6th (Friday), 2024
Prizes : The top two groups will receive the "Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2025 Finals"
This grants the right to perform the work and allows the performer to receive guidance from a judging panel before the performance.
Target organizations : Organizations composed solely of students enrolled in high schools or equivalent institutions within the prefecture.
