Ryutopia Niigata Civic Arts and Culture Center has appointed Jo Kanamori as artistic director of the dance department.
Established in April 2004 as Japan's first theater-exclusive dance troupe.
Based in Niigata, they have toured in Japan and performed in 10 cities in 7 countries overseas.
His works and company activities, backed by his professionalism and keen awareness of issues, have been highly evaluated.
In 2009, it was co-produced with the Moscow Chekhov Theater Festival, and in 2011, it was co-produced with the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto.
We have expanded our range of activities, including participating in opera and ballet as a company, and are still the only dance company in Japan exclusive to public theaters.
He is constantly engaged in creative activities in order to play a part in the development of Japanese theater culture in the 21st century.
Received the Dance Award at the 8th Asahi Performing Arts Awards.
