Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura Annex
The Kamakura Annex, which opened in 1984, is located about 350 meters on foot from the former Kamakura Hall (closed in March 2016) in the direction of Kita-Kamakura. It was designed by Masato Otaka (1923-2010) and is thoughtfully designed to blend in with the residential area nestled between mountains. After more than 30 years in operation and a two-year closure for facility renovations and improving user services, the museum reopened on October 12, 2019. The exhibition room walls have been renovated, and a café space has been added to the terrace facing the sculpture garden, improving accessibility. |
