Permanent Exhibition "Into the Forest of Literature: Kanagawa and its Writers" Part 3: From Osamu Dazai and Yukio Mishima to the Present Day
Beginning with the death of Osamu Dazai, symbolizing the chaos immediately following Japan's defeat in the war, and continuing to Yukio Mishima, who sacrificed himself for his own nihilism amidst postwar prosperity and peace, and finally to Ken Kaiko, who energetically raced through the postwar era, we introduce nine writers. In the final section, "Expressing the Modern Age - Shonan, Yokohama, and the Suburbs," we also spotlight works by six contemporary writers, including Shintaro Ishihara and Ryu Murakami, that depict Kanagawa Prefecture in their time.
