Collection Exhibition: "Marc Chagall's 'Fables of La Fontaine'"
Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was born into a Jewish family in Vitebsk (present-day Belarus), then part of the Russian Empire. Despite the hardships of the Russian Revolution and war, and his wanderings across Europe and America, he maintained a deep longing for his lost homeland. "La Fontaine's Fables" is a collection of etchings he created in Paris after meeting art dealer Ambroise Vollard. Based on French national literature, this work transcends national and linguistic boundaries, depicting the essence of the stories with a unique poetic quality only possible in monochrome.

Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Hayama
The Hayama Museum, the third building of the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, was completed in March 2003 and opened in October of the same year. It boasts a diverse range of facilities, including exhibition rooms with varying ceiling heights and lighting environments, an art library aiming to be a hub for collecting materials and disseminating information, an auditorium with audiovisual equipment, and a storage facility showcasing the pinnacle of preservation techniques. To encourage people to enjoy the museum in their daily lives, the entrance hall, courtyard, restaurant, museum shop, garden, and even the art library on the basement floor are all accessible free of charge. |
