Hakone marquetry began to be made in the Hakone region at the end of the Edo period. The museum exhibits a collection that has been collected over many years by traditional craftsman Noboru Homma, with the aim of preventing the loss of historic marquetry and passing on the techniques.
In the workshop, you can observe the artisans at work through glass, and there is also a hands-on workshop (reservations required) where you can create your own coasters with original designs.
