The towers that represent Yokohama are the "King" of the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Building, the "Queen" of the Yokohama Customs House, and the "Jack" of the Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall. In the early Showa era, when there were still few tall buildings, sailors from foreign ships affectionately called these towers visible from Yokohama Port by these names, prayed to them for safe voyages, and used them as landmarks when entering the port. Following in the footsteps of those people of the past, there is now a legend that if you visit a spot where you can see all three towers at once, your wish will come true. Every year on March 10th, it is celebrated as "Three Towers Day," and various events are held.
