The sculpture "Island Girl" by Kiyohiko Ogawa, installed on the Jogashima Bridge walkway, was created by the Jogashima Tourism Association in 1989 as a "new symbol." The work is based on Kitahara Hakushu's poem "The Girl of Jogashima."
