Original work by Yukio Mishima, composition by Toshiro Mayuzumi The monumental Japanese opera “Kinkakuji” will be performed for the first time in 16 years!
Toshiro Mayuzumi is a composer from Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and is also known as the first host of the Untitled Concert. An opera composed by Mayuzumi based on ``Kinkakuji'' by Yukio Mishima, a representative of Japanese literature, will be performed at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall for the first time in 16 years.
At a press conference held in August, conductor Tatsuya Shimono, director Tetsu Taoshita, and general artistic director Kei Ichiyanagi of the Kanagawa Arts Foundation, which is organizing the performance, appeared together with Teruhiko Komori, Masumitsu Miyamoto, and other gorgeous performers. Lined up.
``I respect Yukio Mishima the most out of all the Japanese writers.When I read the score for the opera ``Kinkakuji,'' I was confused at first because it didn't match my own image of Mishima, but now I understand it. As Tetsu Taoshita said at the press conference, ``I hope you look forward to seeing how Kinkaku-ji is burnt down ,'' Mishima Bungaku has worked with Toshiro Mayuzumi to create a cast that is both popular and talented, including director Taoshita. Expectations are high to see how this will be realized.
