Kawasaki City Art Center opened in October 2007 as a symbol of the city of Kawasaki's "Shinyuri, City of Art." The center is comprised of the Arterio Small Theater, where the stage and audience seats are close together for easy viewing, and the Arterio Video Theater, where you can watch movies in comfortable seats. These two compact yet professional theaters are the core of this facility, where you can enjoy theater, movies, music, and more up close.
The Arterio Small Theatre has launched its sponsored performances under the name Shin-Yuri Theatre. This public theatre brings together professional theatrical and musical actors and directors, aiming to become a regional theatre that will serve as a creative hub for the Shin-Yurigaoka area. Kawasaki City Art Centre has also launched the local resident participation group "Wagamachi Theatre Company," which allows people to not just watch but also participate in performing arts, making it a more accessible experience.
As a local mini-theater, Arterio Film Theater screens unique films from around the world that aren't shown at cinema complexes. They also offer detailed services such as barrier-free screenings for the visually and hearing impaired, and screenings with childcare. They also hold film and animation production workshops for elementary school students and video production courses for adults every year.
In addition to these two theaters, there is also a recording room suitable for recording narration and music, and a video editing room equipped with an editing system using Final Cut Pro, which are available for rental.
