[Performance Details]
"Shuju Yume" is a collaborative work between the Yokohama Noh Theatre and the Taiwanese Kuo Guang Theatre Company. Artists representing each field have traveled back and forth between Japan and Taiwan to create this work, which has finally been completed. It combines Japanese shamisen music with the classic Kun Opera piece "Shuju Ki."
The lead role will be played by Wen Yuhang, a top star of Kun Opera who is active internationally while belonging to the Kuo Guang Theater Company. His partner will be the up-and-coming young star Liu Jiao. The music will be directed, composed and performed by Tokiwazu shamisen player Tokiwazu Mojibei, and Nagauta performers Kondo Yoshijiro, Kineya Hideko and Kondo Masataka will participate from Japan. They will perform alongside musicians from the Kuo Guang Theater Company. The performance will be directed by Wang Chia-ming, a leading figure in the Taiwanese contemporary scene. Other performances will include scenes from the Kun Opera masterpieces "The Peony Pavilion" (9th) and "The Embroidery Story" (17th), as well as the Japanese dance masterpieces "Fujimusume" (9th) and "Tide Drawing" (17th).
