(Mr. Suberi Mercury, the chairperson who provides acting guidance)

-Since last year, you have been working as the Oimachi smile correspondent. This time, I will be presenting the Oimachi Furusato Theater Company as the chairperson. First of all, please give me your honest impressions.

Mr. Smooth Mercury: I was born in Minamiashigara City, which is close to Oimachi, and by chance I ended up being the Oimachi Smile Correspondent last year. Specifically, I work about two days a week in the Planning and Finance Division of Oimachi Hall, where I work to communicate the charms of Oimachi to people both inside and outside the town. I make videos to promote the specialty fruit feijoa and sightseeing in Oimachi, as well as some of the publicity work, and the people of Oimachi are just so kind and I love them so much. I'm really looking forward to the opening performance on August 8th and can't wait!

-What kind of people gathered at Oimachi Furusato Theater Company? Also, how was the script created?

Svery Mercury: The Oimachi Furusato Theater Company is inviting applications from the public, and 13 people from elementary school to those in their 40s living in Oimachi who applied with interest will appear on stage. The members of the theater company include people who are active as actors and junior high school students who want to jump into the world of theater, but most of them have never been involved in theater at all. The script is completely original and was written by a writer who is also involved in Yoshimoto Shinkigeki after assessing everyone's characteristics. All I can say here is that it's set in Oimachi, and it's hilarious, but it's definitely a comedy. It's hilarious!

-When I watched the rehearsals, I noticed that everyone performed with such confidence that I couldn't believe they were beginners.

Mr. Svery Mercury: There are many people living in Oimachi who have never acted before, but everyone is coming together in the spirit of helping each other and preparing for the inaugural performance. I'm working really hard on the rehearsals, so I'd be happy if you could watch them with warm eyes and enjoy them. The storyline is easy to understand, so I think it's easy for small children to understand and have a good laugh with adults.

-In the first place, what is the significance of Yoshimoto Kogyo holding such performances nationwide?

Mr. Svery Mercury: I think it's important for comedians like us to work closely with the community and liven up the community through laughter. Laughter has the power to make people feel better. We can communicate the charm of a region both domestically and internationally through comedy, and it would be amazing if everyone across the country could laugh and feel better.

-Suberi Mercury, why did you decide to become a comedian?

Svery Mercury: When I was at Odawara High School, I played the lead role in a comedy play at the school festival in my second and third years. Ever since then, I've always been someone who likes to stand out, and I love making people laugh and having fun. By this time, I had decided that I would definitely pursue a career in comedy in the future. I entered Waseda University, entered Yoshimoto Kogyo's training school in my second year, and after graduating from university, I went straight into comedy.

-I think most of your classmates at the time went on to find jobs, but did you have any doubts about pursuing a career in comedy?

Mr. Svery Mercury: None. When I entered university, I was thinking about going to a training school after graduating, but I couldn't wait. I still have no hesitation at all. I just love laughter, and I think I've always had a strong desire to entertain people with laughter.

◇To everyone in the Oimachi Furusato Theater Company, please tell us why you applied and what role you would like to play◇

Aika Takaida

Manaka Takaida (14 years old) plays the role of Manaka Ishii, a second-year middle school student who aspires to be an actress.
I'm currently in the third year of junior high school. I'm really interested in theater, but I was disappointed that my junior high school didn't have a drama club. I was talking to various people to see if there was a place where I could act, and someone told me about the current recruitment for a theater company, so I applied immediately. The members of the theater company range from people who have never acted before to people who are serious about acting, and it's a lot of fun to work together as one to create a stage performance. My character is an aspiring actress, and I am also aiming to enter the world of theater, so I want to perform to the fullest in my first performance.

Mr. Jintaro Kuroiwa

My name is Jintaro Kuroiwa (37 years old), who plays Kuroiwa, the president of Kuroiwa Productions.
I also work as a professional actor. I was approached by someone from the town hall and decided to participate. Unlike creating a video work such as a movie, once the curtain opens on a stage performance, you cannot stop it midway through. You can't just "wait a minute, try again." You could say that's what makes the stage play so interesting, but when I first met the members of the troupe, I honestly thought, ``This is okay.'' Even though the performance date was just over a month away, I was worried whether it would be possible to finish it as a stage play in this condition. Then, as I practiced more and more, my overall level gradually improved. I was amazed at the power and hard work of the Oi townspeople. There are many highlights for each actor in their scenes, so please watch the movie while paying attention to the performances of each individual member.

Ayaka Shibuya

I'm Ayaka Shibuya (27 years old), who plays the role of Kuroiwa Production's scout, Ayaka.
This is my first time acting, and I usually work as an office lady. I applied because I like to have a loud voice and stand out, and also because I thought it would be interesting as it would be the first time in the prefecture that comedians and townspeople would come together to form a theater company. Her role is a very kind woman on the outside, but she is always angry behind the scenes, making her a very polarizing character. I want you to enjoy the different parts of the story that have two sides.

Mr. Yusuke Ishii

This is Yusuke Ishii (28 years old), an employee of Oimachi Hall, who plays Manaka's older brother, ``Ishii''.
I never thought I would end up doing it. I thought it would be a good idea for the theater company to have at least one employee from the office, so I decided to perform at the recommendation of everyone at work. Even when I'm at a drinking party, I'm the type of person who doesn't take the initiative to liven things up, just sit in the corner and drink. I'm sure he suggested it because he thought he wouldn't have turned it down. At first, I was worried about what would happen to me, but as we practiced more and more, the troupe's momentum grew, or rather, we became more united. Everyone is working really hard. We hope you'll enjoy watching Kanagawa Prefecture's first inaugural performance set in Oimachi with the theme of local love!

I auditioned for Yoshimoto Shinkigeki a long time ago, but I didn't pass the final screening. I am very happy to be able to perform this comedy as Oimachi Furusato Theater Company. I want to deliver the kind of laughter that is funny, with solid laughs in it, that doesn't hurt anyone, and that makes everyone from small children to the elderly laugh together.
Comedians Lion Onishi and Pistachio will also be performing on the day of the event, so please come and have a laugh! thank you! Rocky! thank you very much! !
