This "Yokohama Song" adorns the east exit of Yokohama Station.
This ceramic relief, originally designed by Western-style painter Nobumichi Ide and sculpted by Louis Fransen, was installed in 1981 at the entrance to the East Exit underground shopping area. Embodying the idea that "the station is the starting point of urban culture," its dynamic and vibrant composition welcomes visitors to Yokohama's gateway, a city that has opened itself to the world. Why not compare the art on both the east and west sides of the station, including the "Sun" sculpture at the west exit?
