It was my first time at the Kamakura Noh stage. I changed to the Enoshima Electric Railway from Kamakura and got off at Hase Station, where a very stylish townscape was waiting for me.
Everything I saw was new: Japanese sweet shops, stylish restaurants, artist-style shops, folk art shops, etc. After walking about 7 minutes from the station, I arrived at the Kamakura Noh Stage.

The Kamakura Noh Stage, built 50 years ago, is located in a residential area.
A place like this in a place like this!
I went inside with excitement and saw the majestic, yet secluded stage, which gave me a sense of mysticism.

This time, it was a "Noh Learning Meeting for Prefectural Residents." There was a "Noh Pre-talk" by Kanta Nakamori, so we were able to learn about Noh in a very easy-to-understand way.
The history and stories of Noh. The relaxed movements, the shouts that come from the stomach, the dignified beauty of silence... I felt with my body the gestures that only Japanese people can express.

What was especially impressive was the "Kamimai" dance at "Yumi Hachiman." I was drawn in more and more as I watched.
The emotions welled up within me in a steady rhythm, and I was once again touched by the splendor of Japanese culture.
Cherish every moment and live your life feeling the "space." Watching Noh made me feel like I was able to face my own spirit.
I am grateful for the good start to 2019.
