The area around Tsujido Station has been gaining in vitality since the opening of Terrace Mall Shonan, and the news of the birth of a new art space has come as a further boost to the area. The nickname of the new facility is "FAS," which is an acronym for Fujisawa City Art Space .

Fujisawa Art Space (FAS) was opened with the aim of "disseminating art from Fujisawa" and with the central pillar of its operation being to provide a place for young artists to create and present their works. It is a compact yet multi-functional space located on one floor of an office building, with an exhibition room, workshop room, and residence room.
The first exhibition, titled "From now on!! From Fujisawa, the future of art," is a group exhibition of nine artists with ties to Fujisawa, divided into three periods. The first period, which began on Saturday, October 3rd, has the subtitle "Visualize - Each Imagined Landscape," and four two-dimensional artists are exhibiting works that "visualize Fujisawa" using their own techniques.
I would like to report on the exhibition right away.
The first exhibition of "From now on!! The future of art from Fujisawa" introduces four artists in a space created by connecting exhibition rooms 1 and 2.
Natsuki Urushibara , who won the Hoshino Shingo Grand Prize at the Toyohashi Triennale last year, has created a unique worldview through an accumulation of precise, delicate lines.

The works of Tomoko Aso, who created "karuta" cards based on familiar things related to Fujisawa, will make you feel warm and happy.

Matsuura Ayumu 's works, which he photographed while walking around Enoshima, feature the motif of waves with various expressions.

Since he was a child, the maps of Fujisawa looked like monsters, and so Kosuke Yoneyama 's new work was born from that. It seems to embody the topography of Fujisawa. Incidentally, the place where Yoneyama is pointing is the area around Tsujido Station, where FAS is located.

Next, we took a look at the residence room next to the exhibition room...

At the time, Mariko Sakase and Goro Nizawa , who will be exhibiting in the second "Tri-Angle - Dialogue with the Work" exhibition, were working on their works.

If you come to see an exhibition, you can catch a glimpse of the production site of the next exhibition, which may be a special benefit of FAS, which has an open residence room on the same floor. When you go to an exhibition, don't forget to check out the residence room. If you're lucky, you may be able to see the production site of the next exhibition.
"From now on!! Fujisawa, the future of art" will be held until January 17, 2016. As the title "From now on" implies, we hope that this exhibition will be the starting point for new art to continue to be disseminated from this place.
