With lots of gratitude in these little yellow flowers
I went to "Mimosa Festa 2025," which is being held at La Cittadella, a 5-minute walk from the east exit of Kawasaki Station, from February 5th to March 16th, 2025.
La Cittadella is a mixed-use commercial complex designed with the image of an Italian hill town in mind, and its cobblestone streets and rows of shops make you feel as if you've been transported to Europe.
Beautiful yellow mimosa flowers herald the arrival of spring.
March 8th, International Women's Day, is known as Mimosa Day in Italy. Mimosas, which vividly color the streets of Italy from late February to March, are said to be flowers given to loved ones as an expression of love and gratitude. With the desire to spread this wonderful Italian culture, La Cittadella holds a mimosa event every year. This year marks the 10th time the event has been held, and it is attracting more attention with each passing year. A gentle yellow color spreads softly throughout the building, and restaurants participating in shop-related events are offering mimosa fair menus. Mimosa wreaths adorning the entrances of these shops also add to the beauty of the rows of stores.
Unique photo spots everywhere
This year, the photo spots, which feature blue items scattered throughout as accents, are highly recommended, with their adorable accessories. In the central fountain plaza, there's a playful and unique spot with a photo stage for dogs and a mirror for taking pictures. If you go up to the balcony on the second floor of Maggiore, you'll find a space vividly decorated with antique-style items and lots of flowers. Descending the olive staircase from there, you'll find mimosa flowers flowing from a pole faucet and painted decorations on the ground, making every corner perfect for photos. Even though it's still cold at this time of year, you can take lots of pictures in this wonderful space adorned with spring colors.
A month when the area around Kawasaki Station is dyed in mimosa
The Kawasaki Brave Thunders, a professional basketball team based in Kawasaki City, also collaborated with the Mimosa Festa. Their club mascot, "Rowl," holding a cute bouquet, was used to decorate an entire wall, causing passing fans to stop and take commemorative photos. This adorable collaboration appearance of "Rowl," rarely seen, is a must-see.
In addition, there are collaborative projects with surrounding facilities, and it seems that the area around Kawasaki Station will be dyed mimosa yellow for a month during the event period.
A trip to an open-air market in Italy
During the weekends of the event, there are plenty of activities such as the "Mimosa Marche," "Mimosa Live," and "Mimosa Cherry Blossom Viewing." Of particular interest is the ever-popular Marche. You can buy mimosa-themed goods, baked goods, seasonings, and of course, fresh flowers. It's a truly exciting experience to browse for a gift in a market reminiscent of an Italian open-air market, while thinking of someone you want to thank. Perhaps that's because this is La Cittadella, a place brimming with exotic charm. Popular workshops are also set up, so why not try making a handmade gift for someone special?
The mimosa flower symbolizes positive and warm meanings such as "elegance, gratitude, and friendship." I realized that going out with a loved one during this season, when everything is a sea of yellow, is a wonderful way to express gratitude.
