On a sunny night in June, I attended a wine seminar, an event related to the Yokohama France Month that started the other day. This time's theme is "Wine from the Bordeaux region."

The venue is “CAFÉ de la PRESSE,” which has an antique-like oldness that brings elegance and peace. This is my favorite restaurant and I often go there for lunch.

The word seminar may sound formal to some people, but this is a win-win event where you can enjoy both a full course of French cuisine and a wine lecture, while also gaining knowledge about French culture and wine without having to push yourself too hard.

I'm a complete beginner in both wine and French, but I don't have to worry about having an interpreter on hand for French. Rather, I thoroughly enjoyed the unique sounds of French emanating from the instructor. Regarding wine, I was able to gain comprehensive knowledge by using a projector to learn about the scenery of grape growing, as well as historical and touristic episodes of the region.

We had 4 types of wine this time. They consider the uniqueness of each wine and how it pairs well with the food.

By participating this time, I learned about the four processes when drinking wine.

Aspect : See
Nez: sniff
Bouche: Taste
Impressions generales: Comments

I was able to consciously put this into practice.
First, check the color with your eyes, enjoy the aroma, and then put it in your mouth.

I think anyone can go through this easily, but the last comment made me realize how highly cultured France is.
Drinking wine and commenting may seem a bit snobby to some people, but
Meals inherently involve communication,
Use delicious food as a tool to share images with others,
The best part is communicating your emotions to each other.
There were many people at the venue participating in groups of two or four, so
In addition to the metallic sound of cutlery and tableware touching each other, everyone's conversations created a lively atmosphere surrounding the delicious food.
Although I attended alone, I enjoyed hearing from the couple next door about their trip to France and talking about their impressions of wine.

And here is the dish we had this time.

Needless to say, everything was wonderfully delicious, and the final dessert in particular was much more refreshing than it looked. I was surprised to see red wine coming out from the bottom...!

The happy time passed in the blink of an eye,
In addition to the content of the lectures, I also learned a lot from the wine and travel information that I received from the couple I met this time. And to commemorate this encounter, I took a photo of the two of us.

When I told them that I would be posting my work on the web, I received some warm advice: ``I want young people to travel a lot and see and experience many things around the world.''

I also strongly thought, ``Let's save up some money and go to France someday!''

Food-related events will continue in Yokohama France Month 2014.
By the way, I couldn't make a reservation last year, so I was able to participate a year later.
This is a very popular event, so early reservations are recommended.
